Jupitr

I wanted to create a film that points to what is happening right now: ICE raids and the policies this current regime is rolling out that threaten the liberties, freedoms, and basic decency of everyday people. The film looks like the past because the past is not past. What ICE is doing today is state terror, and Black and Native people know this pattern because we have lived it, watched it get renamed and rebranded, and been told to stay polite about it.

At the initial reading, I was asked how the audience is meant to feel about the husband in the end, the one who lies about the nature of the danger outside because he knew Jupitr would not accept fear and stay hidden, the one who covered himself to survive and wanted the same for his love.
